About Elkton

Elkton is a medium sized community found in the northeastern portion of the US state of Maryland. Elkton has a population of approximately eleven thousand nine hundred residents, and is considered a part of Cecil County. Elkton serves as the county seat of Cecil County, and was originally known as Head of Elk. Elkton also had a former nickname of the “Gretna Green of the West”, and is located near the Elk River and Chesapeake Bay.
