Near the northwest corner of the state in the Four Corners region, where New Mexico, Utah, Arizona and Colorado all meet, Shiprock, New Mexico, is home to just over 8,000 residents. The town is in San Juan County and on the Navajo reservation. Those in search of a house for rent or an apartment for rent will find Shiprock the largest community in the Navajo nation. The town derives its name from the nearby Shiprock formation, formed from an eroded volcanic plume. Shiprock is a culturally rich town, with a number of local artists and performers. Each year, the town hosts its annual Northern Navajo Fair in October. It also hosts the annual Shiprock Marathon & Relays. Diné College here is a tribally controlled community college, with seven other campuses dispersed across the Navajo nation. A branch of the Farmington Public Library is operated here, giving those in search of a house for rent or an apartment for rent an avenue for learning. The Northern Navajo Medical Center provides medical services to those here.
