Kirkwood is a relatively small community found in the southern central portion of the Empire State near the border with Pennsylvania. Kirkwood has a population of approximately five thousand seven hundred residents and is technically considered a town of the state of New York. Kirkwood takes its name from engineer James P Kirkwood, was founded by Jonathan Fitch, and was officially incorporated in the year eighteen fifty nine.
