The charming town of Smithtown is situated on the north shore of Long Island in Suffolk County. The town has a population of about 116,000 residents. Originally known as Smithfield, the town of Smithtown was first settled around 1665. According to a local legend, the land where Smithtown is now located was given to Richard Smith by Native Americans who told Smith that he would be granted title to all of the land he could ride across in one day on a bull. Today, there is a statue of Smith and his bull, Whisper, which is located at the fork of Jericho Turnpike and St. Johnland Road.
The beautiful town is made up of about a dozen various villages and hamlets, as well as several stunning parks including Caleb Smith State Park Preserve, Sunken Meadow State Park, and Nissequogue River State Park, which are located nearby. Over a dozen schools located in and around Smithtown provide quality education to all of the town’s youth and teenagers. The town also offers various free movie and music concert events to all of Smithtown’s residents and visitors.
