With a friendly population of about 15,000 residents, the quaint, unincorporated village and town of Stony Point is situated in Rockland County in southeastern New York. Stony Point lies along the Hudson River, about 38 miles north of midtown New York City. The town got its name from the rocky natural feature jutting out into the Hudson River. The town is also home to the Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site, which commemorates an event that took place during the American Revolution in July of 1779.
