Apex is a charming town located in Wake County that has the motto “The Peak of Good Living.” The town has a population of about 31,000. Apex is a booming town with a quickly growing population. The town was officially incorporated in 1873 and was named for its location as the highest point of the Chatham Railroad. Apex remains as one of the most intact railroad towns in the state, and at the heart of the town is the Apex Union Depot, which is now the home of the Apex Chamber of Commerce. Due to the town’s close proximity to North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park, much residential development has taken place, and the town’s population has more than quadrupled since the 1990’s. In 2007, the Town of Apex was ranked 14th as one of the nation’s top 100 small towns by CNN / Money Magazine. Apex’s recent growth has led to the construction of a large shopping center and several new neighborhoods. There are also about a dozen schools located in the area that can all offer great educational opportunities. Apex also has convenient access to all forms of transportation including the Raleigh-Durham International Airport, several highways, a bus system, and bicycle routes.
