Situated in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Boone is a small city of 13,000 in Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina. Named for pioneer Daniel Boone, this city is the home of Appalachian State University and a campus of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute. Rentals in the area include apartments for rent and houses for rent. They are very popular as second homes and vacation homes because of the beautiful surroundings in the area.
Boone is a growing community that is trying to pace the rate at which it grows, so that the historic and natural parts of the area are not disturbed. The Blue Ridge Parkway runs through this area, as does the Tweetsie Railroad and the Watauga River. The Daniel Boone Native Gardens, Horn in the West, and Howard's Knob are also favorite places to visit nearby.
