The city of Brevard is situated in Transylvania County, in western North Carolina, and has a population of about 7,000 residents. Brevard is also the county seat of Transylvania County, and it is located at the entrance to Pisgah National Forest. Over the years, Brevard has gained a reputation of being a great tourism, retirement, and cultural center in western North Carolina. A comfortable climate, beautiful landscapes, and cultural attractions have made Brevard an extremely attractive city to live in. The city is also home to Brevard College, and the Brevard Music Center. Brevard is also nicknamed “The Land of Waterfalls” due to the numerous waterfalls located nearby including Looking Glass Falls, Connestee Falls, and Sliding Rock.
One of the most celebrated events in Brevard is Independence Day, where the festivities consist of a fireworks display, car show, games, and arts and crafts. The city also celebrates Halloweenfest and the White Squirrel Festival. The white squirrel lives in the region and is a well known animal in Brevard. Downtown Brevard is also a popular district because of its numerous shopping and dining attractions. Brevard truly is a charming city that is a great place to live in.
