Pinehurst is a charming village and resort community located in Moore County, central North Carolina. The village is situated just west of Southern Pines and Aberdeen. The area was first settled in 1895, and it gained its current name because of its location in a pine forest. Pinehurst is designed with a New England country village theme, and it is surrounded by grand Georgian-style estates. One of the things that Pinehurst is extremely famous for is its 40 plus championship golf courses, with The Pinehurst Resort and Country Club being home to one of the most famous golf courses and golf tournaments in the region. With a population of about 10,000, Pinehurst is also known for its horse shows and training, fox hunts, field trials, and kennel shows.
