About Wake Forest

The charming town of Wake Forest is situated in Wake and Franklin Counties, in north central North Carolina. With a population of about 23,000 residents, Wake Forest is conveniently located just north of Raleigh, the state capital. The town is ranked as one of the fastest growing suburbs in America, and it was once home to Wake Forest University, which has since moved to Winston-Salem. The town is still home to the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Wake Forest was first established when Dr. Calvin Jones from New England purchased 615 acres of land in 1820. The town experienced some growth and development after the Raleigh and Gaston Railroad extended a railway through the town.

Some of the town’s rich history can be found at historic attractions including the DuBois Center and the Calvin Jones Historical House. The town also offers great recreational services and activities, with the most popular recreational destination being the Falls Lake State Recreation Area, which is home to the 12,000 acre Falls Lake and 26,000 acres of woodlands. The town’s transportation needs are conveniently provided by the Raleigh-Durham International Airport, several highways, a nearby Amtrak railway, and a local bus system.
