Named after its location on Beaver Creek, Beaver is a village of just over 400 residents nestled in Pike County in southern Ohio. The closest city is Jackson, a few miles east with the state capital, Columbus, 68 miles north. Conveniently located on Highway 335, many residents commute to nearby cities during the day, a good portion of the village’s workforce is devoted to construction, a popular occupation for many Ohioans. Residents of an apartment of home for rent often enjoy the quiet atmosphere and rural setting. Although the village covers only 0.4 square miles, it has developed a unique culture of its own. Despite its small size, Beaver and its surrounding area boasts a rich heritage with many interesting attractions. Residents of a Beaver apartment or home rental are treated to an annual Oktoberfest and are free to explore local landmarks like the Ohio-Erie Canal and a great array of outdoor activities, including hiking, hunting, and famous golf at the Big Beaver Creek Golf Club. In addition to two local libraries, Beaver is home to both an elementary and high school although some students choose to attend classes at schools in nearby towns.
