Located along the Ohio River on the state’s eastern border with Pennsylvania, East Liverpool is also known as the “pottery capital of the world.” Just over 13,000 people reside in the city that was founded in 1800. Just 40 miles west of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Ohioans of East Liverpool usually drive into Pittsburgh for air travel at the International Airport. Many residents of East Liverpool apartments and homes for rent also commute into Pittsburgh for work on a daily basis. However, many do find work at The Hall China Company, the Homer Laughlin China Company, and Pioneer Pottery. The “Point of Beginning,” used across the United States for land surveying, is just east of the city, on the Ohio-Pennsylvania border. Complete with its own library system, K-12 public schools, and multiple parks and recreational facilities, most residents of an East Liverpool home or apartment rental will find that all of their necessities can be found right in town. The Turkana Golf Course, Head Pin Bar And Lane, and Museum of Ceramics attract both residents and visitors alike. With such enthusiasm for pottery, the residents of East Liverpool put together the East Liverpool Pottery Festival every June as well as a Garden Show every July.
