The sizeable city of Lima, with a population over 40,000, is located in Allen County, about 72 miles north of Dayton, Ohio along the I-75. Founded in 1831, the city of Lima was originally part of an Indian reservation before being handed back to the United States government for conversion to an American settlement. The city rapidly grew in 1885 when Standard Oil discovered a nice field in the area. Residents of a Lima house or apartment for rent can find work locally at the Kewpee Restaurants headquarters, Valero Energy Corporation, Husky Energy, Procter and Gamble's Tide and Downy plant, or the Ford Motor Company engine manufacturing plant. Because of Lima’s location, most residents work in the city.
The city of Lima’s children benefit from a network of schools conveniently located across the area, including 6 senior high schools. The University of Northwestern Ohio, James A. Rhodes State College, and Lima Campus of the Ohio State University are also located in the city. Residents of an apartment or home rental in Lima are well connected to their surrounding region thanks to the interstate network and rail service to nearby cities offered by RailAmerica and CSX Transportation. Most residents also take advantage of the year-round festivals and activities that the city offers, including various family days in the city parks. Other attractions include the Square Fair, Rally in the Square, Broadway in Lima, as well as the city’s very own 12-theater cinema.
