Found in Richland County, Shelby was originally settled by Native Americans before the nation’s massive Westward Expansion. In 1846, the first train ran through the town providing the first train intersection west of the Allegheny Mountains. Located 90 miles southeast of Cleveland, along the I-71, most of Shelby’s residents work locally although a direct rail link to Cleveland makes the commute seamless.
