Yukon’s fabulous location offers the amenities of a large city while maintaining a strong sense of community in a hometown environment. Just 15 miles west of Oklahoma City on the I-40, Yukon has developed into one of the capitol’s favorite neighborhoods with a population of 21,000 and growing. The city was originally built along the railroad from El Reno to Arkansas as there were no towns between El Reno and Oklahoma City to stop. Inadvertently, the city of Yukon was created and today, the railroad continues to provide dependable service for the majority of residents who choose to commute into Oklahoma City for work. Yukon’s pristine placement on Lake Overholser makes the area a beautiful community, deepened by its focus on suburban living. Accordingly, there aren’t many malls, shopping areas, or industrial parks in the city. Residents of a Yukon house or apartment for rent can fly out of town locally at the Clarence E. Page Municipal Airport although most residents prefer the Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City which offers better commercial service.
Despite its suburban focus, the community still hosts a number of celebrations and activities throughout the year including the Oklahoma Czech Festival, Festival of the Child, Freedom Fest, Spooksville, Opening of Christmas in the Park, and Taste of Yukon. Residents of an apartment or home for rent in Yukon also strongly support local landmarks and attractions such as Chisholm Trail Watering Hole & Historic Marker, Yukon Museum & Arts Center - The Stage Door, Freedom Trail Playground, and Yukon Historical Museum. The Yukon City Park, Sunrise Park, Substa Park, The Golf Club at Surrey Hills, and Westbury Golf & Country Club provide ample room for recreation.
