The city of Astoria is located 80 miles northwest of Portland, Oregon and currently hosts a population of just over 10,000 residents. Situated near the mouth of the Columbia River, the city was named after investor John Jacob Astor whose fur trading company founded Fort Astoria at the site in 1810. Continuing to trade today, the city is served by the Port of Astoria with a deep-water port.
