Located on the I-80, 65 miles east of Newark, New Jersey, the city of Bangor is nestled in the northeastern portion of Pennsylvania. Situated in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania, Bangor is part of the state’s “slate belt.” Accordingly, slate mills are sprinkled across the state although only a few are still in operation. A railroad station in downtown Bangor connects the city to both Newark and south to major Pennsylvania cities including Philadelphia. Home to just over 5,000 residents, the city isn’t very big and most residents of a Bangor house or apartment for rent commute to neighboring cities for work.
Roseto Park and Bangor Memorial Park are mainstays for active Bangor residents and provide the majority of recreational space for the city. Residents of an apartment or home rental in Bangor tend to travel into the New York area frequently for shopping and entertainment. The Bangor Area School District is quite extensive and graduates a class between 400 and 600 students every year.
