Known for large flocks of passenger pigeons that once gathered in the area, the city of Blue Bell was originally named Pigeontown. With a population of over 6,000 residents today, Blue Bell is recognized for its large homes, major business parks, small community shopping, and local shops, in addition being named the 14th best place to live in America by Money Magazine. The city is located 22 miles north of Philadelphia and can be accessed via the intersection of the I-276 and I-476 that occurs in the city center. Residents of a Blue Bell house or apartment for rent can find work locally at companies like Unisys and Aetna that are based in the city, but many also commute into Philadelphia daily.
The Montgomery County Community College provides an exceptional 2-year experience that supplements the educations available at nearby 4-year schools. Residents of an apartment or home rental in Blue Bell are conveniently located near to the Montgomery Mall that is the closest large mall. The Wings Field Airport provides the city’s general aviation services although most residents elect to fly commercially out of the Philadelphia International Airport about 25 miles away. The Meadowlands Country Club is also popular amongst the area’s rather large affluent population.
