A drive 21 miles north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on the I-79 will lead to the city of Cranberry, a township in Butler County with almost 24,000 residents. Founded in 1804, Cranberry is one of the fastest-growing areas in the United States in both population and business. Situated at the intersection of the I-76, I-79, and Routes 19 and 228, Cranberry is accessible from virtually every direction and provided the primary growth for the once small town of Cranberry. Because the commute to Pittsburgh is only 30 minutes, residents of an apartment or home for rent in Cranberry prefer to work in the bigger city where jobs pay higher wages and are more numerous. The Port Authority of Allegheny County operates a commuter bus that runs along the I-79 and terminates in Cranberry. The service provides a good alternative to driving a personal car.

The Cranberry Mall is the primary location of growth, with many national brands and retailers opening stores in the center. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review prints its paper in Cranberry and Wellington Energy has its headquarters located locally as well. The area’s largest employer is Westinghouse Electric Company, which just opened its headquarters in Cranberry and has 3,000 local employees.
