Settled in 1728, New Holland is located in the fertile farmlands of Lancaster County, 53 miles southeast of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Residents of an apartment or home for rent in New Holland typically commute to other cities for work, namely Lancaster and Harrisburg. In fact, besides the extensive highway system that connects New Holland to the rest of the state, a commuter railroad terminates on the edge of town and offers conveniently timed schedules that can cut the hour driving time in half. Although a number of retailers and stores are easily found throughout New Holland, big-box retailers and other discount quality stores are a few miles away in Lancaster. For senior citizens and residents that may not drive, the town provides a scheduled bus service a few times a month for shopping.
The Eastern Lancaster School District that operates New Holland’s school system provides quality K-12 education to the area’s children. Although an elementary school is located in the heart of the town, students in grades 6-12 must travel to nearby towns to attend middle and high school as part of the district. Residents of a New Holland house or apartment for rent always look forward to the weekend New Holland Farmers Market. Although a sizeable variety of grocery stores are sprinkled throughout the town, the homegrown crops from the fields surrounding the town are especially fresh and cheap. The annual New Holland Farmers' Fair is also a major attraction.
