About Penn

One of the smallest boroughs in Pennsylvania, Westmoreland County’s Penn encompasses a population of just under 500 residents. Although conveniently located 29 miles east of Pittsburgh and just off of the I-76, Penn’s small size is due to the success of neighboring cities. Residents of an apartment or home rental in Penn do not have any schools located within the town, but can attend school districts on either side, at most 10 minutes away from their home. Jeannette to the east and Westmoreland City to the west are the most popular shopping locations. What keeps residents in Penn is the charming spirit of the tight-knit community and the multitude of facilities offered to such a small area.

Despite its small size, Penn offers its residents of a house or apartment for rent with an expansive multi-use recreational complex that includes baseball fields, batting cages, a deck hockey court, a basketball court, football and soccer fields, walking and jogging trails, and picnic facilities with pavilions and tables. Clarkson Field is another popular park and includes lighted fields for play after dark. The community also supports a variety of events and initiatives aimed at celebrating the area’s rich heritage and bringing neighbors together. Examples of community activities include the Penn Township Fall Festival, Summer Concert Series, and Community Picnic.
