Quakertown’s 9,000 residents find that the town’s rich heritage brings a living spirit and cultural appreciation to its people. Historically, Pennsylvania, as a whole, was originally created as a land area devoted to people of the Quaker faith, although that is no longer in the state or in Quakertown. In 1777, during the American Revolution, Quakertown also served as a temporary storage shelter for the famous Liberty Bell. Additionally, John Fries' Rebellion, was plotted from a tavern in the town. However, residents of an apartment or home rental in Quakertown appreciate even more than the town’s background and culture. Once home to cigar and stove manufacturers, Quakertown has become rapidly expanding bedroom community and regional shopping center for Bucks County and Philadelphia. Quakertown Airport is located on the outskirts of the town.
Noted in the 2006 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records, Quakertown was recorded as having the most fast food joints in a single square mile. Residents of a Quakertown house or apartment for rent can take advantage of a wonderful array of activities for themselves and their families. Both the Quakertown Pool and Main Street Skate Park offer alternative recreational venues although the main park system offers Quakertown kids ages 6 through 13 with a 2-month K.I.D.S. recreation program, one of the best in the area. The community also looks forward to large events such as Concert in the Park and Community Day Main Stage Events that occur throughout the year. Just off the I-476, Quakertown is only 48 miles outside of Philadelphia, making commuting, shopping, and other errands within easy reach.
