Sayre is located in a river valley on the Allegheny Plateau, at the confluence of the Susquehanna River and the Chemung River. Part of Bradford County and home to 6,000 Pennsylvanians, Sayre is 156 miles due north of the Harrisburg. Most residents of an apartment or home rental in Sayre make the 4-hour trip into the state’s capital a few times a year to stock up on provisions, although Scranton and New York state’s Binghamton provide closer, yet less-extensive alternatives. Additionally, three rail lines meet in Sayre, providing ample opportunities for cheap and quick transportation into the larger cities, as well as New York City, which is served twice-weekly by an eastbound train.
