About Swarthmore

A borough in Delaware County and originally named Westdale, the town’s name was changed to Swarthmore after a college in that name was established in the area. Swarthmore Town Center is being refurbished to increase retail space and promote community connections as well as support the growing college crowd in town. The Springfield Mall, on the outskirts of town, provides the primary shopping area for residents of an apartment or home rental in Swarthmore, although a few smaller shops and restaurants are sprinkled throughout the town and around the college.
