York was founded in 1741 by settlers from the Philadelphia and named after an English city of the same name. The leading hub for commerce and industry in the south-central region of Pennsylvania, York is home to a growing population of over 41,000 residents. Interestingly, during the American Revolution, York served as the temporary capital of the Continental Congress from 1775 to 1783.
