Featuring a population of 49,000, East Providence is the fifth largest city in Rhode Island and is only 2 miles from the Providence downtown city center. Founded in 1641, the area was originally purchased by the first Plymouth Colony from the Native Americans. The I-195 runs across the water between East Providence and the business district and allows for 5-minute commutes.
