About Tiverton

Tiverton is located on the eastern shore of Narragansett Bay and provides primary access to Aquidneck Island via the highway that runs through town. With a growing population of 15,000 Rhode Islanders, Tiverton was originally founded as part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony and was annexed by Rhode Island with a royal decree from England prior to the American Revolution. Fogland Beach and Grinnell's Beach are popular local beaches and are busy during the warmer months. “The Cove” that is across the water from Tiverton provides scenic views, especially at dawn and dusk, and is a popular barbeque area, just a few minutes across the bridge.
