Tiverton is located on the eastern shore of Narragansett Bay and provides primary access to Aquidneck Island via the highway that runs through town. With a growing population of 15,000 Rhode Islanders, Tiverton was originally founded as part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony and was annexed by Rhode Island with a royal decree from England prior to the American Revolution.
