About Irmo

Eleven miles outside of Columbia, South Carolina, Irmo is conveniently located along the I-26. Originally created to support the Columbia, Newberry and Laurens Railroad, the town’s name was actually formed from the combination of its founders named. Interestingly, Irmo doesn’t have a town center but rather clusters of suburban neighborhoods.
