About Union

The 9,000-person town of Union received its name from the old Union Church that was just a short distance from the Monarch Mill. First settled in 1742 by white settlers, the area quickly built log cabins and began the cultivation of tobacco, flax, corn, and wheat. Today, Union is in the midst of continuous industrial expansion, but although the town is developing, it hasn’t lost its noted small-town neighborly attitude.
