Built upon the shores of the Cumberland River, Gallatin serves a rapidly expanding population of 23,000 residents, 30 miles northeast of Nashville, Tennessee. Despite its status as a bedroom community serving Nashville, a number of companies such as GAP, Inc., RR Donnelley, and Servpro are based in town and offer a large number of jobs locally to residents of a Gallatin house or apartment for rent. The Gallatin Municipal Airport offers facilities for general aviation while the regional railroad that runs through town provides timely commuter service into Nashville. Whereas driving takes about 40 minutes, the train makes the run in about half an hour. The Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority also operates a commuter bus.
Sumner County Park, Bledsoe Creek State Park, and the Club at Fairvue Plantation not only offer residents of an apartment or home rental in Gallatin with unparalleled recreational activities but also breathtaking vistas of the Old Hickory Lake. Longhollow Golf Course, Gallatin Memorial Park, Gallatin City Park, and Gallatin Country Club, mostly located in the middle of town, provide an unfathomable spread of choices and options, ranging from chess tournaments to tackle football. Volunteer State Community College, the largest two-year college in the state, can also be found in Gallatin. The community converges on the town square for neighborhood events including Sumner County Fair, the Gallatin Christmas Parade, and Fall Festival.
