Exactly 25 miles due north of Nashville, along the I-65, White House is an easy 30-minute drive from the downtown business district of Nashville. Originally created as a resting point for Native Americans and buffalo herds that cut through the area at one time, the creation of the Louisville & Nashville Turnpike increased White House’s importance by several folds. Currently, the town is experiencing significant population growth and community development as a result of extensive growth and a movement out of urban Nashville residences. Its convenient location makes White House popular for relatively affluent people who enjoy the mix of suburban living in the countryside with ideal access to their workplace in Nashville. Residents of an apartment or home rental in White House find that White House’s local resources are also quite plentiful, with many shopping outlets available either in the city or on the outskirts of the area.
The new White House Heritage High School broke ground in 2008. Both the Sumner County Schools and Robertson County Schools operate campuses in White House, with each one contributing 2 elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. Residents of a White House house or apartment for rent can choose from a variety of recreational venues, including White House Greenway, White House Municipal Park, Billy S. Hobbs Municipal Center, and the L. Anderson Sports Complex. Each facility offers is own personality and flavor, allowing residents to choose a park that best suits their needs. Facilities range from simple gardens and walking paths to complex Olympic-sized swimming pools and digitally-scored football games. White House also operates a dedicated Senior Center that caters to the community’s older generation.
