Just north of the Tooele Army Depot, and south of I-80 and the southwest side of the Great Salt Lake, Grantsville, Utah, is a 6,000-person town about 40 miles west of Salt Lake City in the north-central region of the state. The town is a rapidly growing one, expanding by more than 30 percent in the 1990s, so those hunting for a house for rent or an apartment for rent will find themselves among good company. The town, the second largest in Tooele County, is home to the Utah Shakespearean Festival. Construction, education and public administration are the largest industries in Grantsville. The town was founded in 1848 as Twenty Wells, renamed Willow Creek in 1850, and soon became Grantsville, named after George D. Grant, a military leader. Notable nearby locales include Deseret Peak recreational center, Miller Motorsports Park raceway and a built Wal-Mart Distribution Center just outside the city. Two elementary schools: Willow and Grantsville; Grantsville Middle School and Grantsville High School make up the public school system. Those in search of a house for rent or an apartment for rent can also cool off at Deseret Peak Aquatic Center, the largest pool in the state with 750,000 gallons of water.
