Williston was once a rural farming village, but it is quickly growing into a suburban and industrial town. Williston was named after a wealthy Quaker from Long Island, Samuel Willis. Because Williston joined the Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation, much business has been attracted to the town, causing it to expand rapidly. Today, Williston is mostly a manufacturing center. Williston also has a rich history and is where Jerry Greenfield and Ben Cohen, the co-founders of Ben and Jerry’s, reside. Williston has a number of historical churches, such as the Old Brick Church, First Universalist Church, and the First Methodist Church.
