About Forest

Recognized as a rural suburb of Lynchburg, Virginia, the town of Forest is a peaceful area that is comprised mostly of farms and woodlands. However, the town has experienced rapid growth in the past decade, and the growth is expected to continue. The town has been developed to include a new shopping center named Cavalier Corner and a strip mall. A recent housing project was completed, which opened up the Ivy Hill community which offers great housing for those searching for a home or apartment for rent. This beautiful community is also located next to a newly developed golf course. Although Forest does not have an official town center, many of its residents treat the Post Office as the community’s central location. The post office is located next to the Forest Library.

The most popular place of interest within the town is Thomas Jefferson’s summer home, Poplar Forest. Other attractions include the historic monuments and museums located in the town of Bedford nearby, the home of the famous National D-Day Memorial. The town also is extremely close to the urban center, Lynchburg, where Amtrak’s Crescent Train and the Lynchburg Regional Airport are located. Although Forest was once a rural farmland area, the town has developed and continues to develop into a wonderful place to live.
