About Pulaski

The town of Pulaski has a population of about 9,000, and it is the county seat of Pulaski County. Pulaski County is known as being the “natural treasure” of Virginia because it offers a wide array of cultural and outdoor attractions without the hustle and bustle of urban life. The main defining feature of Pulaski County is the Claytor Dam, which was built by the Appalachian Power Co. in 1939. Also located along Claytor Lake is the one of the largest Boy Scout reservations, where scouts come every summer for outdoor and leadership experiences.
