The town of Rural Retreat, Virginia, is located just south of the I-80 corridor. Situated in the southwestern portion of the state, Rural Retreat is in Wythe County. At about two square miles in size, this community is home to about 1,350 residents. True to its name, the town is certainly a rural retreat from the hustle and bustle of busy urban living. Rolling hills and mountains decorate the landscape surrounding Rural Retreat. Communities in the area include Fairview, Crockett, and Wytheville. The Clinch Mountain St. Wildlife Area is to the west. Head southwest for the Cherokee National Forest, and travel northwest to visit the Berwind Lake Public Park Area. When you settle in Rural Retreat, you’ll have access to breathtaking scenery.
