About Lacey

Established as a suburb of Seattle, the city of Lacey, located in Thurston County, has a growing population of about 32,000. Lacy is the second fastest growing city in the county that also includes Olympia and Turnwater. During the nineteen sixties Lacey’s main industries included cattle, milk, forest products, and retail. Today, however, Lacey is primarily a bedroom community for Olympia and Tacoma. Retail, warehousing and distribution centers, a large retirement community, a major mushroom farm, and Weyerhaeuser’s corrugated container facility are still located in the city. Many of the city’s residents and visitors love this city because of its slower paced lifestyle as well as its close proximity to lakes and forests and the beautiful Nisqually Valley. Recently, the city has undergone massive building development, a major project being the city’s “Gateway Project.” Lacy is also known as one of the most energy efficient cities in America.
