The beautiful city of Maple Valley is located in King County, Washington, and has a population of over 14,000 residents. The city was incorporated in 1997, and most of Maple Valley’s history and artifacts, as well as that of the surrounding areas of Taylor and Hobart, is preserved at the Maple Valley Historical Society. The city was formerly called Vine Maple Valley, which was determined by name pulling from a hat, but the post office shortened the name because it was too long. However, the school district is called Tahoma, which is a combination of the first letters from the names Taylor, Hobart, and Maple Valley. The great attractions that can be found in Maple Valley are primarily outdoor, recreational activities that take full advantage of the superb natural wildlife that surrounds the city. Popular attractions include the Wilderness Trail, Cedar River Trail, Maple Valley State Park, and Take a Break Park. The city also contains the Lake Wilderness Park and Golf Course, in addition to the Elk Run Golf Course.
