About Othello

Othello is a small, yet charming 3.4 square mile community located in Adams County, and has a population of less than 6,000 residents. The town is often referred to as being in the “heart“ of the Columbia Basin Project. The town is located about 100mi. southwest of Spokane and 180mi. east of Seattle. Othello was officially incorporated in 1910, and was once the eastern terminus of the second district of the Milwaukee Road’s “Pacific Extension “route, which extended up to Tacoma.

Because Othello is more of a rural community, it prizes itself in its abundant wildlife and great recreational activities, which include fishing, hiking, biking, sightseeing, bird hunting, and golfing. The city also holds various, fun festivals and events such as the Adams County Fair, American Fiesta Amistad, Sandhill Crane Festival, and farmer’s markets. Some popular and beautiful parks located in the area include the Potholes State Park and the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge. The Othello Community Museum and Old Hotel Art Gallery are also located in this beautiful city.
