Sometimes mistaken for the city of Auburn, Pacific is a city located on the border between King and Pierce County. The beautiful city has a population of about 6,000 residents. Pacific was platted in 1906 by real estate promoter Clarence Dayton Hillman as “C.D. Hillman’s Pacific City Addition to the City of Seattle.” The city was officially incorporated three years later in 1909. Pacific became an agricultural city due to its location in the White River Valley, which resulted in the farming of hops, berries, vegetables, bulbs, and dairy farming. As railroad lines were built through the settlement, Pacific started to grow and develop. Today, much of the farmland has been converted for industrial uses, however, the town has made it a point to preserve its small town feel and friendly nature. Visitors and residents living in a home or apartment for rent will find primarily recreational and outdoor activities in Pacific. However, some historic attractions in the area include the Fort Nisqually Historic Site and Meeker Mansion. There are also a wide variety of excellent museums in the neighboring area. Some of the beautiful parks located near Pacific include Flaming Geyser State Park, Nolte State Park, and Blake Island State Park.
