About Sammamish

The city of Sammamish is an Eastside suburb of Seattle and is located in King County, Washington. The city has a population of over 34,000. The Sammamish Plateau region was part of unincorporated King County for most of its history, and votes to join or incorporate the region to Issaquah always failed. However, Sammamish began a movement to become a city, due to frustration with development policies, and won the voter’s approval. Sammamish was officially incorporated in 1999. The city has always promoted community involvement and volunteerism, emergency preparedness, and strong neighborhood watch organizations, which has helped Sammamish to grow into an excellent city to live in.

The beautiful city of Sammamish is a very green city and is surrounded by the majestic views of nature, and because of this the city offers excellent recreational services and activities. Lake Sammamish and the Lake Sammamish State Park offer a wide array of water sports, as well as hiking and biking trails. Some of the major parks in Sammamish include Beaver Lake Park, Pine Lake Park, Northeast Sammamish Park, and East Sammamish Park. However, even more beautiful parks are being planned and developed. One of the newest recreational additions to Sammamish is the East Lake Sammamish Trail, completed in 2006, which connects to a regional trail system. The city also has some other developmental projects in the works, which will make the already excellent city even more wonderful to live in.
