Located in Milwaukee County, Cudahy has a population of about 19,000 residents. The city was originally known as Buckhorn Settlement, but it was renamed in the late 1800’s when Patrick Cudahy purchased 700 acres of land in the Town of Lake, two miles outside of the Milwaukee city limits. He used this land to build his meatpacking plant. When a train depot was built in the area, the railroad company named it Cudahy, in honor of Patrick, and eventually, a settlement formed in the area. In 1906, Cudahy incorporated into a city. Residents living in home or apartment for rent can find Cudahy an extremely relaxing and peaceful community to live in because of its small town atmosphere. The city has excellent dining, shopping, and recreational opportunities that will please every person. The city is also home to the Cudahy Historical Society, which preserves the city’s rich history.
