About Grafton

Grafton is a charming village located in Ozaukee County, and has a population of about 11,000 residents. Although the village of Grafton is more recognized, the village is also located right next to the Town of Grafton. Grafton is one of the oldest settlements in Ozaukee County. The area was first settled in 1838, when Timothy Wooden purchased some land in the area. This land is where the business district of Grafton is now located. By 1841, the community began to grow and develop, especially with the immigration of settlers of German descent to the area. The village was eventually incorporated in 1896, and its economy shifted from a lumber-oriented industry to a diversified economy consisting of various occupations. Grafton is also a suburb of Milwaukee.

Throughout the past decade, Grafton has developed into a modernized community with new hotels, fine restaurants, affordable homes, and major retailers. A new hospital is also being planned for the area. Grafton is recognized as being an extremely desirable community to live in because of its nationally ranked schools, low crime rate, short commute times, low cost of living, and high quality of life. Although Grafton has grown significantly, it has retained its relaxing, small town appearance and feel. In addition to being an excellent dining and shopping destination, Grafton also contains great recreational facilities that offer fun outdoor activities.
