Greendale is a beautiful community located in Milwaukee County, with a population of about 14,000 residents. The village is known as the headquarters community for the United States Bowling Congress. Greendale was first established in 1936, during President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s administration when the Department of Agriculture formed three new communities known as the Greenbelt towns. The other two communities are Greenbelt, Maryland and Greenhills, Ohio. The purpose of constructing these Greenbelt towns was to demonstrate a new kind of suburban community planning that held the advantages of both city and county life, as well as provide affordable housing and open up new jobs. Greendale is a great village that promotes excellent dining, shopping, educational, and recreational opportunities. The community also holds numerous village events and celebrations. Greendale is also participated in “America in Bloom” which is a nationwide contest that promotes the beautification of communities by adding green space, trees, and flowers to the landscape, as well as reducing litter and other forms of pollution.
