About Kimberly

Kimberly is a charming village located in Outagamie County, with a population of about 7,000 residents. The village was founded in 1889, and named in honor of John A. Kimberly, one of the cofounders of the Kimberly-Clark Corporation. The city is home to Kimberly Mill, which was built in 1889 to make newsprint, and later, coated paper, fine paper, magazine paper, and specialty paper. The mill was built by the Kimberly Clark Corporation, but it was eventually sold. Today, the mill is owned by NewPage, however, they have declared plans to close the mill in the Fall of 2008. With no surprise, the Kimberly High School’s mascot is the paper wasp, and the school’s team name is the Papermakers.

Kimberly, along with the cities of Kaukauna, Little Chute, and Combined Locks form the “Heart of the Valley” region of the Fox River Valley. Kimberly has also developed an industrial park, where another major employer, U.S. Oil, is also established. The city also contains great shopping and dining opportunities at the city’s numerous strip malls. Kimberly is also home to Sunset Park, the city’s central recreation center, which served as the host for events including the International Softball Congress’s annual World Tournament. The facility is also home to its Hall of Fame. And of course, the city is host to the annual Paperfest, which is a fun, family-oriented festival that contains games, sports, music, and food.
