About New Berlin
The city of New Berlin is located in Waukesha County and has a population of about 39,000 residents. The city was named after New Berlin, New York. Although there happens to be five other cities in the US with the name New Berlin, the city of New Berlin in Wisconsin is the largest of them. The city didn’t experience major growth and development until the 1960’s and 70’s, and even today it continues to develop. The city was incorporated in 1959, and grew as a result of residents moving out of the City of Milwaukee to the less urbanized areas. Even today the city continues to attract residents and businesses moving out of neighboring Milwaukee. Residents living in a home or apartment for rent can find that New Berlin contains all of the aspects of an urbanized city, but still contains a small town charm and the comfort and tranquility of a rural community. New Berlin is also home to the New Berlin Historical Society, which preserves and displays the city’s rich history. The city also contains popular landmarks including the various historic houses, Coffee Street, Cupola Tower, Linnie Lac Dam and Lake Site, and Tacl’s Tavern. New Berlin also holds weekly farmers’ markets.
