About Twin Lakes

Situated in southern Wisconsin, the village of Twin Lakes is located in Kenosha County and has a population of about 6,000 residents. The village’s name of Twin Lakes refers to Lake Elizabeth and Lake Mary. The Native Americans were the first people to settle in the area, but after the European settlers arrived, the area became a major destination for ice harvesters during the days of “ice box” refrigeration. With over 1000 acres of water in the area, Twin Lakes has long been a popular resort destination, with many grand vacation homes that belong to seasonal visitors. Mary Ray and Jonathan Ineson were some of the first settlers in the Twin Lakes area, and it is their two daughters that Lake Elizabeth and Lake Mary are named after. Twin Lakes was officially incorporated as a village in 1937.
