Stretched along the western coast of the upper portion of the island of Maui, Lahaina, Hawaii, is the largest town in West Maui and is home to more than 9,000, although amidst heavy tourist seasons, the population can swell to nearly 40,000. The town is the entryway into gateway to the famous Kaanapali and Kapalua beach resorts found north of town. Lahaina means merciless sun, and residents looking for an apartment for rent or a house for rent will find a warm climate here with little rain year-round. Two Lahaina Recreation Centers, Malu Ulu O Lele Park serve the outdoor needs of then, while Lahaina Cannery Mall and Lahaina Center serve as indoor areas.
