On the shores of Lake Pend Oreille in the northern pan handle of Idaho, about an hour and a half south of Canada, Sandpoint, Idaho is a resort town of nearly 7,000 residents. The county seat of Bonner County, Sandpoint's biggest industry is tourism and recreation, although residents looking for a house for rent or an apartment for rent will find there are several large corporations located here as well. Coldwater Creek, a women's apparel retailer, is headquartered here, and Quest Aircraft Company, Encoder Products, and Percussion Aire have offices as well. Bonner General Hospital is a nonprofit, 62-bed facility here as well. Sandpoint lies right on Lake Pend Oreille, a 43-mile long lake with 111 miles of shoreline, and the fifth-deepest lake in the U.S., and lies at the base of the Selkirk Mountains. It is close to Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort, and the town is home to the largest film festival in the Inland Northwest, the Schweitzer Lakedance International Film Festival. Residents looking for a house for rent or an apartment for rent here will also find an Amtrak station in town that provides connections with Chicago, Seattle, and Portland, Oregon.
