About Spring Valley

The village of Spring Valley is located in Rockland County on the border between the towns of Ramapo and Clarkstown. With a population of about 26,000 residents, Spring Valley is located next to the New York State Thruway and is served by a Metro-North commuter rail station. The village is also home to the Rockland Community College – Spring Valley Extension. For over 50 years, Spring Valley was the site of Sarafan Auto Supply, which supplied parts to militaries all over the world. This business grew to include most of the industrial district in Spring Valley’s downtown area, but Sarafan Auto Supply has since then moved out of the village. Over the past years, efforts have been made to revitalize Spring Valley’s downtown district and the surrounding areas. Some of the popular landmarks and attractions in Spring Valley include the Finkelstein Memorial Library, Holocaust Museum and Study Center, and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, which was recently added to the Register of Historic Places in 2008.
